That shift changes the economics. Once labor becomes data generation, the value no longer sits mainly in the finished good. There are two ways to read this story. The default reading is emotional and obvious: grim working conditions now, automation later. True enough. But the more useful reading is strategic: robot training data is becoming a raw material input, like electricity, steel, or contract labor once were.
